Update May 28, 2005:
Hope has recently entered the CWAC training program with the intention to be trained as an additional demo dog for the Educational & Awareness program we provide in the community. We also 'hope' to be able to breed her and start our own assistance dog breeding program if she passes all the health clearances when she's fully grown. She is one of the smartest pups we've seen. |
We want to express our most sincere appreciation to Vicki at Animation Acres for the wonderful contribution to our program by donating this very special puppy.

Hope - 3 months - learning the command 'Get dressed' being lured with a treat while she puts her head through the cape.

Hope - 3 months - learning the command 'Kennel' as she walks into the crate to get a treat

Hope - 3 months - after a few days of encouragement, positive reinforcement and a few meals in the crate, she started to see her space in the crate as a very enjoyable place.

Hope - 3 months - observing the red dot light on her paw from the laser pointer. She is encouraged to play at this age and later on this will be a great tool for her to focus on when we will ask her to retrieve items out of reach

Hope - 3 months - as she does some of the actions naturally, we add the command so she starts to make a connection. Here she naturally put her paws on the table as we said 'paws up!' good girl! paws up!!

Hope - 3 months - learning the command 'leave it' when there is food around. Here she was not yet making eye contact which is what we would wait before giving her the ok to get her treat.

Hope - 3 months - socializing with Molly, the cat used by CWAC to teach the dogs to be gentle around them and not chase them.

Hope - 3 months - observing Noah with the laundry basket and taking it all in.

Hope - 3 months - again observing Noah with the phone and entering into action. She does not want to miss the fun!

Hope - 3 months - learning the command 'wait' before exiting/entering thresholds. Here again, we wait for the eye contact before giving her the command 'go ahead'.
Hope - 3 months - gently playing with Noah. When pulling on the rope we give the command 'tug' which later is used to tug on ropes to open doors, drawers etc.
Hope - 3 months - having a snooze...
