Meet Our Board

Toni Carter

Chair

Toni Carter has been an integral part of Canines With a Cause (CWAC) since 2012, serving on the Board of Directors and assuming the presidency in 2015. Her extensive nonprofit experience and established relationships with local foundations and donors have been instrumental in securing the organization's financial stability.

With over 40 years of professional experience in negotiation, marketing, sales, and business management, Toni brings a unique skillset to CWAC. In her professional capacity as a real estate expert, Toni is dedicated to delivering results-driven solutions for her clients, prioritizing key elements of the real estate process to achieve success.

Kitty Bennion

Treasurer

With 28 years of experience in interior design and development, Kitty currently serves as an expediter and manager at Miller Lang Design, supporting a high-end custom interior designer.

Kitty's passion for giving back extends beyond her professional pursuits. A dedicated volunteer, she has spent her entire adult life supporting nonprofits. Since 2000, Kitty has been actively involved in animal rescue, previously serving as a Board of Trustees Member for Friends of Animals, Utah. Currently, she holds the same position at Canines With a Cause, where she also serves as Treasurer. Through her work with these organizations, Kitty has contributed to the development of a rescue & rehabilitation ranch, participated in fundraising initiatives, and helped drive growth and expansion. She looks forward to another successful year with Canines With a Cause.

Oliver Tsuya

Board President

Oliver's journey began with his service in the Army as a Combat Medic he joined in 1999. His service later took him to Iraq. A parachute accident led to his medical retirement from the Army. He then pursued higher education and began working in IT, he has been in IT for over 15 years.

Oliver is a proud graduate of the Canines With a Cause program and shares his life with his loyal companion, Tasha. When not working, you can find Oliver exploring Park City's trails with his brightly painted toenails, practicing Jiu Jitsu to cultivate his cauliflower ears, or carving through snow at local resorts.

He is an avid blood donor and is passionate about volunteering and giving back to his community, particularly his fellow veterans. He volunteers with organizations like the National Ability Center and Canines With a Cause.

Justyn Manley

Board Member & Veteran Outreach Liaison

Justyn Manley believes in working with each client to develop a personalized treatment plan to aid in gaining quality of life. She focuses on those dealing with trauma, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, grief, physical health concerns, self-injury, anger, traumatic brain injury, and many other challenges. She supports her clients in wellness by incorporating recreation, connection to nature and animals, mindfulness, and meditation into the therapeutic process. Her approach is collaborative and considerate of beliefs, personal history, ethnicity, culture, family, sexual orientation and identity.

Lori Thoman

Board Member

Lori brings over 30 years of technology expertise to the table, currently serving as an Engineering Program Manager at Adobe, Inc. During her 17-year tenure at Adobe, she has been an avid participant in volunteer activities, focusing on initiatives that support families, military personnel, and animals.

As an animal lover, Lori welcomes a diverse range of pets into her family, including dogs, cats, birds, and horses. Her entire family, spanning multiple generations, shares her passion for dogs of all breeds. As an Adobe Action Team coordinator, Lori has partnered with Canines With a Cause for nearly ten years, coordinating multiple volunteer activities annually.

Nick Ciolino

Board Member

A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Nick Ciolino served for 10 years supporting Naval Special Warfare by designing and maintaining mission-critical network and satellite communication systems. His military experience fostered a passion for leadership, service, and solving complex challenges in high-pressure environments.

Following his military service, Nick earned a business degree from The University of Texas at Dallas, combining his technical expertise with a strong foundation in business strategy and operations. He began his civilian career with a neurodiagnostic company, where he pursued his interest in traumatic brain injury (TBI) and the technologies that improve patient care and outcomes.

A graduate of Canines With a Cause, Nick now has the privilege of serving on the organization's Board of Directors, helping advance its mission and give back to the community in meaningful ways.

Outside of his professional and volunteer work, Nick enjoys challenging himself as a triathlete, exploring trails on his mountain bike, and traveling with his wife, Rose. Whether through his career, service, or personal pursuits, he is committed to continuous growth, building meaningful relationships, and making a positive impact.
