Canines With a Cause adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and assessed for behavior and personality traits. Some have received basic obedience training in our prison-based Pawsitive Healing or our Pawsitive Partnership programs. The dogs that we offer to the public for adoption are ones that we’ve deemed unsuitable for work as service dogs, which is a very stressful and highly skilled job for a dog to do. Our adoptable dogs are simply better suited to be great family pets or as therapy or emotional support dogs.
We do our best to make sure the dog will fit in their new home and all parties will benefit from the relationship. We do require a foster period before adoptions are final and ask that the dog be returned to CWAC if the dog can no longer stay with adopters.
