Read this Lee Benson Deseret News article on Cathy King, Canines With a Cause Founder and Executive Director. It’s a wonderful synopsis on how Cathy’s journeys through life led to the formation of Canines With a Cause. Cathy is known for reaching out and helping those in need and her commitment to serving the community continues through Canines With a Cause.
Saving Three Lives-a trifecta of doing great things for our community! Shelter dogs are saved from euthanasia and transformed into service, assistance and companion dogs beginning with training in our prison training program. They are then placed permanently with a military veteran, who continue the training to overcome symptoms of PTSD and other psychiatric disabilities.
What the article doesn’t mention is Canines With a Cause receives no funding from the VA, insurance or government. Cathy works diligently to fundraise on behalf of our military veterans, assuring a quality training program. Cathy and our senior staff also make many public appearances at events, presentations to local Scouts, students, veterans and other civic groups, help with community action projects, teach classes and donate their personal time for the betterment of society as a whole. When we all work together great things can be achieved!
