Canines With a Cause Congratulates Beginning Handler Course Graduates!
Canines With a Cause would like to congratulate our recent graduates from one of our Beginning Handler courses!
The participants in this have class met the attendance, homework and basic training goals using the principals of clicker and positive reinforcement dog training methods. Well done Veterans!
Each beginning Handler course is 8 weeks long with one 90 minute class each week. Veterans are taught basic dog handling skills, positive reinforcement training methods including clicker and treat work. After successfully completing the Beginning Handler course, participants advance to the Intermediate Handler course includes beginning public access work in a variety of situations. Here the goal is to pass the Canine Good Citizen Test and if successful, the dog is considered a Service Dog in Training. The advanced training courses continue behavioral and command work, public access and eventually the specific tasks needed to benefit the handler’s disability.
