Canines With a Cause is excited to have been a part of ABC4 “Acts of Kindness” this week!
Our interview with them highlights our unique mission of “saving two lives” by pairing rescued shelter dogs with veterans who need psychiatric service dogs. In the interview, we see Gus, our most recently rescued shelter dog, who is being prepared for his future veteran. Before a dog is rescued, CWAC evaluates dogs at local shelters for factors such as temperament, response to sounds, food motivation, and energy level.
Dogs that pass the evaluations are placed with members of CWAC’s Paw Squad foster program, where they receive their initial training and socialization. Our interview features our newest Paw Squad member, Lorrie, who is watching Gus until he is ready to be paired with his forever handler.
