FOSTER
Join the Paw Squad!
Just like in the military, success depends on a strong team. That’s why we created the Paw Squad! Canines With a Cause relies on the dedication of our incredible foster families to help prepare rescued dogs for their future service and forever homes.
As a Paw Squad foster, you’ll provide a safe, loving environment where dogs can receive enrichment, basic training, socialization, and the care they need to thrive. Your time and compassion give each dog the best possible start, and we simply couldn’t carry out our life-saving mission without you.
To ensure fostering is a rewarding experience, Canines With a Cause provides all dog food and supplies, covers veterinary care for your foster dog, and reimburses any foster-related damages that may occur. You provide the love—we’ll take care of the rest.

ADOPT
Committed to the Cause
At Canines With a Cause, we’re dedicated to finding forever homes for our canine friends. Once we adopt a dog into our program, we’re committed to ensuring they find a loving family to call their own.
While some dogs excel as service animals, others may not be suited for this high-stress, highly skilled work. These dogs, carefully evaluated by our team, are available for public adoption and make perfect loving family pets or therapy and emotional support companions.
Our Adoption Process
Our CWAC adoptable dogs have received comprehensive care, including spaying/neutering, vaccination, and microchipping. They also undergo behavioral and personality assessments, providing valuable insights to help adopters make informed decisions and find their ideal match.
While many of our dogs have received training through our programs, including those led by experienced trainers and veterans, as well as our prison program, the level of training varies by dog. As a result, adopters should not expect all dogs to have advanced training, but rather a range of skills, abilities and potential!
To ensure a harmonious match, we take a thoughtful approach to adoption. This includes a home evaluation and foster period, allowing us to assess compatibility and giving adopters a chance to experience life with their new dog. If an adopter is no longer able to provide care, we ask that they return the dog to us. This approach prioritizes the well-being of both our dogs and adopters and allows us to stay committed to our cause.
