In Memoriam
This page honors the memories of three extraordinary groups: our brave military veterans who protected our nation with selfless courage, the loyal Canines With a Cause service dogs who served alongside them and brought comfort to those in need, and the rescued dogs who found a second chance at love and life through Canines With a Cause.
May their sacrifices, service, and resilience never be forgotten. Their legacies live on in our hearts and through the countless lives they touched.

Andrea Morris
Andrea "Andie" Morris first got involved with CWAC as a therapist at the VA Hospital, referring many of our past clients to the program. She later joined the program with her labradoodle, Winston, and they graduated as a service dog team in 2020. Andie was always happy to volunteer for events, bring a dish to a potluck, or help a Veteran in need. She dedicated her career to helping fellow veterans as part of the VA Suicide Prevention team, but her reach extended far beyond that. Andie was a fierce advocate for anyone in need; she was a foster mother for some time, adopted two children, Olivia and Isaac, and never failed to open her heart and home to any person or dog in need of shelter.

Yukon
Yukon, a deaf Great Pyrenees, was adopted in 2014 by the Liston family. An Alpha up to his last breath on this earth, [Yukon] took his job as a livestock guardian dog very seriously. "Every night he made the rounds in the backyard, barked at all four corners, then up at the moon, then came inside [to do] a visual headcount; 1,2,3 dogs, 1,2 humans, ok all safe and sound then marched his fuffy bum up the stairs to the bedroom to sleep," states Jill Liston. Stubborn but loyal, the liston family feels "humbled and honored" he chose them as their guardian.

Stewie
Originally placed with a veteran, Stewie chomped at the opportunity for a second chance with his program veteran, Doug.
